- I have a 1541 disk drive and have recently encountered a problem.
- With no warning at all, the 1541 stopped reading disks. Every
- time I put a disk in to be read I get ?file not found. This
- suprises me because the drive was working perfectly before. It
- didn't even have sporadic problems, just stopped working.
-
- I have noticed a few things which believe to be peculiar though.
- When I disconnect my serial cable from the back of the 1541 the
- Commodore 64 shuts off. I have noticed that be moving the cable
- back and forth for the C=64 power supply that it will shut off
- power to it. I believe my power supply has a short. But I don't
- understand why the 1541 would cause my computer to shut down if I
- remove the serial cable? Could the C= power supply have effected
- the disk drive? Or can a power supply ruin the C= by a spike or
- something?
-
- Any help on this problem would be appreciated!
